How to paste many screenshots into Google Docs or Gmail at once
Your computer’s clipboard holds one picture at a time, so most people paste screenshots one by one. Take every shot first and paste them in one sitting with your clipboard history, or use a tool that copies several shots as one paste.

Why can’t I copy more than one screenshot?
The clipboard on Windows and Mac keeps one thing at a time, so each copy replaces the last. Windows clipboard history keeps up to 25 copies, but you still paste them one at a time.
How do I paste many screenshots faster without a new tool?
Take every shot first, then paste them all in one sitting. You save the trips back and forth.
- On Windows, turn on clipboard history once: press Win+V and choose Turn on.
- Take each shot with Win+Shift+S. It goes straight to the clipboard.
- In your doc or email, press Win+V and click each shot. The newest is at the top, so start from the bottom to keep your order.
- On a Mac, Cmd+Ctrl+Shift+4 copies an area to the clipboard. Paste each one before you take the next.
How do I keep screenshots tidy in Google Docs?
Docs puts each picture in line with your text. To make them all the same width, click a picture, open Image options, then Size & rotation, and type the width.
- Write one line under each shot, so the reader knows what to look at.
- Crop before you paste, so each picture shows only the part that matters.
- Number the shots in your text, “Step 1”, “Step 2”, so a missing one is easy to spot.
What about Gmail, Outlook and chat apps?
Gmail and Outlook put a pasted screenshot in the message itself, so a run of pastes reads top to bottom. Most chat boxes, like WhatsApp, Slack and Discord, take one picture per paste.
Where Screenshots Clipboard helps
Screenshots Clipboard is a Chrome extension made for this job: take your shots, click the ones you want and press Copy once. One paste drops them all, in the order you picked. Gmail, Outlook, Google Docs, Word and Notion take every shot as its own picture; chat boxes get them stacked in one, or one at a time with Copy one by one. It’s free. Plus is $2.99 a month or $19 a year.
Questions
Does Windows clipboard history paste everything at once?
No. It shows your last 25 copies and pastes the one you click, so ten screenshots still take ten clicks.
Does a pasted screenshot become an attachment in Gmail?
No. A pasted picture lands in the body of the email. To send screenshots as attachments, use the paperclip instead.
Will my screenshots stay in order?
Pasting by hand, they land in the order you paste them. With Screenshots Clipboard, they land in the order you picked them, numbered as you pick.
